Hello there,
I thought I would introduce myself…..
Always finding ways to create since I was very young. Art was a favourite subject at school as it allowed me to create with my hands and I had found a way to express myself. I had amazing Art teachers that encouraged me, despite my often lack of ability I persevered and developed a real desire to create.
Once our children had grown I decided to reignite my passion for art. I took every Painting and Illustration class at our local TAFE that I could. I simply could not get enough. I had found what made my heart sing. I remember sitting up in Illustration class at high desks and creating logos and working on illustrations for an upcoming Exhibition…so much detail that I loved and something just clicked…this is what I wanted to do !
BIO
As a Townsville based Artist, Tina Maher has been honing her skills in Illustration since 2010. Illustration, Drawing and Painting Units were completed at TAFE Townsville across four years. Her connection with the natural world holds fascination and drives the inspiration for her works.
Tina blends her painting techniques and skills with her desire to lift the soul and warm the heart of the viewet while reflecting on the complexity of humanity. Much like the layers of each individual’s identity, her slowly built layering technique using watercolour and gouache, allows elements to peek through while other aspects remain obscured.
Tina’s light filled approach and creative use of colours invite the viewer to enter the artwork and take place in a peaceful space, perhaps if only a temporary escape from life’s hectic pace.
